Sorrento!!

Sorrento is the gateway to the Amalfi Coatline. The next two towns are Positano and Amalfi. The road from Sorrento to Amalfi is said to be the world's greatest ride! It will leave you with your mouth open from the view, and frustrated with to little film in your camera. It has hotels and villas clinging to the vertical terrain. It has beautiful sandy coves teasing you from far below and out of reach. You will hyperventilate, noticing how the Mediterranean, a sheer 500-foot drop below, really twinkles in the sunlight and moonlight. And if you know where to look you will see the villas of movie stars like Sophia Loren!
Our hotel sat on the famous road and the views were breathtaking to say the least. The next picture is from the hotel's resturant terrace. You could eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner here and never get tired of the view. We voted it our fovorite breakfast, not necessarily because of the food, but because of the view!
I also wanted to post these two pictures of Stacey. I didn't want them to get lost in the shuffle of all the other pictures. For the past two months Stacey has been working 10 to 15 hour days, 5 and sometimes 6 days a week. I am not making up those hours. He is working his tail off here in Italy while the rest of us have played non-stop tourist!! The first afternoon we got here he found this lounge chair on our balcony. He read for a few minutes and then fell asleep. He slept the afternoon away, and woke up feeling like a new person. He was able to relax with the sound of the waves of the Mediterranean in the background, and the sweet frangrance of the lemon trees all around him. HE was my favorite view the whole afternoon. Seeing him on a rare day, relax like a tourist!

And for the rest of Sorrento!

This picture was taken from the balcony of our room. To the right is Sorrento.

The hotel pool sat "ON TOP" of the hotel The deck chairs could be turned around to face the Mediterranean. Naples is straight across the bay at the base of the mountain. At night the twinkling lights were magical.
Another view from the resturant terrace looking into Sorrento.

Looking straight down from our balcony. This sailing ship sailed into port late in the afternoon. It is hard to put into perspective the size of the ship, but it was huge!! We saw people disembark later that night to shop or eat dinner in Sorrento. We saw the ship again the next day at Capri. Nice way to tour the Italian coastline isn't it?

We loved the balcony off our hotel rooms. We spent alot of time hanging out here and ended taking alot of pictures. The background was beautiful!
Giving me his "Zoolander" pose.

I love this picture mainly because of the clown in the background.
I will never tell you what I just whispered into his ear!!
One of my favorite pictures of Jeff and Alex. Wow!!
Jeff, Alex, Lindsay, and Kevin. Lindsay is a friend of Kevin's from ORU. She was alot of fun and we wished she could have spent more time with us!
One night before we went out the sunset had some amazing color. I took a dozen pictures trying to capture the color. The pictures don't do it justice. I guess this is one of those times they say, "you just had to be there!"

We had two great nights strolling around Sorrento!! The town has an unspoiled old quarter, a lively main shopping street, and a spectacular cliffside setting. We found a viewing spot our first night and could have spent all night gazing out over the Mediterranean. The lights of Naples twinkled across the bay. A few ships with lights sailed sedately back and forth. The smells of the resturants, the flowers, and the sea mixed together to make it all a magical spot.

The next pictures are taken at dinner and walking through the small streets. I could have posted all of them, but I will show controll and only post a few.

Jeff and Alex broke out into dance one time.
